For more than a decade, insulating coatings for buildings have been readily available on a commercial basis, but various factors have prevented it from being available at the residential level. Insulating roof and wall coatings, much like Insuladd Energy Saving Paint Additive, have been used commercially primarily for the facilities of major corporations including IBM, Exxon, and Ford Motor Company, in order to save them as much as 40 percent on energy costs.

Due to Insuladd’s innovative approach, homeowners can now take advantage of this energy saving technology. Insuladd Energy Saving Paint Additive is a specially formulated additive that is designed to mix with regular house paint to create a thermal barrier inside and outside of a home.

The foundation of Insuladd’s technology was created in 1996 through the research conducted by NASA’s technology exchange program. This innovative technology was used to dissipate heat from the NASA Space Shuttle and other space vehicles upon re-entry into the atmosphere. Reflecting heat from the surface of these vehicles was the purpose of its creation and now this heat reflecting technology is finally available for residential use.

What It Does For You

The Insuladd products, which include Insuladd Energy Saving Paint Additive, Radiant Barrier Coating, and Thermal Block Ceramic Paints, have been developed to decrease a home’s energy usage by up to 20 percent. By painting or coating the interior and exterior walls, ceilings, and roof of a home, heat from outside is reflected, helping keep a home cool during the summer months, while during the cold months of the year, heat that is generated from within the home is trapped inside rather than released through the walls. Adding Insuladd has been scientifically proven to reduce energy consumption in any structure, whether home, warehouse, metal building, industrial or commercial.

Insuladd Energy Saving Paint Additive has been formulated to mix with any type of paint or coating, including latex house paint, industrial coating, roof coating, epoxy, urethane, and even high temperature paint, in order to refract, reflect and dissipate radiant heat.

Even more impressive is that Insuladd Energy Saving Paint Additive, when mixed with light-colored paint, can reduce a home’s exterior solar radiant heat gain by more than 38 percent and interior heat loss through paint film by more than 10 percent.

What It Looks Like

The fine powder of Insuladd Energy Saving Paint Additive is actually a complex blend of ceramic microspheres, which adds a mild textured feel to the paint finish. The additive, however, does not affect the look or color of the paint when mixed together.

The mixture creates a thicker paint, but sprayers are still useable for application although all screen filters should be removed from the spray gun in order to prevent clogging. The end result will look no different than the application of any regular house paint, but the difference will be in how cozy and energy efficient the house becomes.
